Water Valley man arrested on drug, weapon charges following traffic stop

A Water Valley man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop.

On Sept. 15, an Oxford Police officer pulled a car over at the Links Apartments for running a stop sign onto U.S. Highway 278 (Highway 6). During the stop, the officer discovered the passenger in the car had narcotics and a firearm in his possession.

The officer arrested the passenger, who was identified as Preston Phillips, 21, and charged him with possession of a scheduled 1 controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a weapon by a felon.

Phillips was given a bond of $15,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
