Obituary – Scott Lee Estes

Scott Lee Estes, 59, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Mt. Zion Church of Oxford (99 CR 2011, Oxford, MS 38655). Pastor Curt Liles will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. 

Born in Columbus, Miss., Mr. Estes was employed as a retail store manager. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Church of Oxford. Mr. Estes is remembered as an amazing person who was always pleasant and enjoyed brightening others’ days. He had a habit of putting others before himself. An avid Ole Miss fan, he loved anything and everything Ole Miss.  A devoted animal lover, Mr. Estes’ dog, Thurston, was his pride and joy.

Mr. Estes is survived by his wife, April Estes, of Abbeville, Miss.; four daughters, Lydia (Steven) Janson, of Newsport, Va., Nina (Billy) Coleman, of Houston, Miss., Sunshine Gracey, of York, Pa., and Sheena Lovelace, of Ark.; three sons, Kyle DeHetre, of York, David DeHetre, of Texas, and Edward Rumfelt, of Illinois; one granddaughter, Mabel Janson, of Newsport; and one brother, Jimmy (Teresa) Estes, of Brooksvillle, Miss.

Mr. Estes was preceded in death by his parents, James C. Estes and Lorene C. Estes; and one sister, Loretta Lancaster.

The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Scott’s “Angel on Earth,” Jessi, with Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi of Oxford. 

Donations and memorials in honor of Mr. Scott Lee Estes may be made to the Oxford Cancer Center (504 Azalea Dr., Suite A, Oxford, MS 38655). The family asks that no flowers are sent.
