Jordan Ta’amu’s days in professional football are far from over.

The former Ole Miss quarterback has signed to play in the startup XFL for the St. Louis Battlehawks. The inaugural season of the startup league will begin in spring 2020.

League owner Vince McMahon and Alpha Entertainment, the controlling owners of the WWE, actually assigned one quarterback apiece to each of the eight startup franchises. Many of the names are former SEC or college quarterbacks familiar to football fans – Aaron Murray is quarterbacking the Tampa Bay franchise, and Landry Jones will be playing for the Dallas franchise. For the St. Louis Battlehawks, it’s the former Ole Miss signal caller who threw for 5,600 yards in two seasons in Oxford.

At publication time, the remainder of the XFL startup draft had just begun and will continue through Wednesday. In addition to Ta’amu, there were seven other former Rebels in the XFL Draft pool, including names such as DeMarquis Gates and Channing Ward.
