Obituary – Dr. James T. Trapp

Dr. James T. Trapp, 81, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, at his home in Oxford.  

A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the memorial service to follow. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is handling the arrangements.

He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi in
1960, and then pursued his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, receiving his medical degree in 1964. Following the completion of his internships, he left to serve his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force, where he served for 5 years.

Dr. Trapp is survived by his wife, Melinda B. Trapp, of Oxford; two daughters, Leah (William) Edmundson,  of Boulder, Colo., and Charlotte Trapp Hawthorne, of Dallas, Texas; two granddaughters, Kathlynn Hawthorne, of Durham, N.C., and Leah Hawthorne,  of Athens, Ga.; two grandsons, Trapp Hawthorne, of Norman, Okla., and William Edmundson, V., of Boulder; one brother, Wendell Holmes (Barbara) Trapp, Jr., of Corinth, Miss.; one niece, Lauren Trapp (Wes) Barnett, of Memphis, Tenn.; and two nephews, Trey (Amy) Trapp, of Tupelo, Miss., and Alan (Laura Beth) Trapp of Corinth.
