Grant Tisdale withdraws name from transfer portal

As first reported by the EAGLE on Saturday evening, Grant Tisdale confirmed the news via Twitter on Monday afternoon that he would be returning to the Ole Miss football team.

“I’m back! #HottyToddy,” his message to Ole Miss fans read.

Tisdale had entered the transfer portal back in October. A four-star recruit out of Allen High School in Texas, Tisdale chose Ole Miss over Ohio State, Texas A&M and others in his home state before signing with Ole Miss as part of the 2019 recruiting class.

Over the course of the 2019 season, Tisdale had fallen to the point where he was a clear third option at quarterback behind Matt Corral and John Rhys Plumlee. However, from the point Tisdale had entered the portal, Matt Luke had been in his ear convincing Tisdale to come back.

The coaching searches, particularly in relation to the offense and the hiring of Lane Kiffin, seemed to do the trick. Tisdale will stay and compete for the starting quarterback job during spring football this year under the new staff.
