Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss contract details revealed

Just hours before new Ole Miss head football coach Lane Kiffin will be introduced publicly to Rebel fans at the Pavilion, the University of Mississippi released the contract terms of Kiffin’s deal with the school.

As is the maximum length deal allowed by Mississippi law, Kiffin receives a four-year, $16.2 million base salary with the university. There are additional bonus incentives that can be awarded based on performance. The details of the contract are below:

Total base compensation:

2020 – $3,900,000
2021 – $4,000,000
2022 – $4,100,000
2023 – $4,200,000

Annual Incentive Awards:

  • $150,000 per SEC win beginning with SEC win No. 5 in an individual season
  • $100,000 per non-conference, Power-5 win in the regular season
  • $150,000 for SEC Championship game appearance OR $400,000 for SEC Championship game victory
  • Bowl game incentives:
    • $50,000 for participation in Birmingham or Independence Bowl
    • $100,000 for participation in a group of 6 SEC bowl game (Taxslayer, Outback, Belk, Music City, Texas, Liberty)
    • $125,000 for participation in Citrus Bowl
    • $250,000 for participation in any College Football Playoff Access Bowl Game (Sugar, Rose, Cotton, Orange, Fiesta, Peach)
    • $500,000 for advancing to the CFP semifinal game OR $750,000 for advancing to national championship game OR$ 1,000,000 for winning national championship game
  • Coach of the Year awards incentives:
    • $50,000 for SEC Coach of the Year award
    • $100,000 for National Coach of the Year award
  • Academic incentives:
    • $100,000 for single year APR above 950
    • $150,000 for single year APR above 975

Football Program Salary Pool:

  • $5,300,000 – split between ten assistant coaches
  • $2,200,00 – split between five strength and conditioning coaches, football operations, analysts, video, recruiting and player personnel staff
