Children throughout Oxford and Lafayette County will be able to receive free dental care this weekend.

Oxford’s Lee Family Dentistry is taking part in “Give Kids A Smile,” which is a free day of dental care for children. The event is taking place on Feb. 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is available to children three years of age to 18.

The event is on a first-come-first-serve basis and families are encouraged to bring their children as early as possible to ensure they will be seen. Lee Dentistry will see as many children as possible on Saturday.

“There is a dental health emergency across the nation and particularly in Mississippi,” Dr. Preston Lee said. “Thousands are unable to afford basic dental care. This is an incredible opportunity for our office to passionately serve our community.”

“Give Kids A Smile” is a nationwide event started by the American Dental Association (ADA) Foundation in 2003. Dentists offices across the country will take part in the event on Saturday, offering free dental health education, screenings and preventative care for children.
