Residents of Oxford and Lafayette County may soon have another option to purchase outdoor and farming equipment.

Tractor Supply Company, the national retail store chain, is planning a store near the Oxford Commons area. The store will be located at the intersection of Ed Perry Boulevard and Highway 30 next to the ABC Learning Center.

The company currently has a location in Batesville, but this would be the first location in Oxford. There are two other nearby locations in New Albany and Tupelo.

During the City’s Planning Commission meeting, the developers and a representative of Tractor Supply Co. requested a 96-foot variance for the build-to line. The request was denied by the commission, but the store is still planned to be built, according to the developers.

A time table is not known on when the store would be constructed, as the land has yet to be cleared and a final site plan has not been submitted or approved. Initial layouts of the site include a road that would run down the west side of the parking lot and connect to other proposed shopping centers along Ed Perry Boulevard to the south of Tractor Supply Co.

Last month, the planning commission approved the first steps for a Waffle House to be constructed on Ed Perry Boulevard. Tractor Supply Co. would be the second business approved in the area.
