Jewell Chandler Lynch, 103, died at her home in Oxford on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, surrounded by family. A graveside service will be held in Oxford Memorial Cemetery on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Warren Black and Rev. Eddie Rester officiating. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Taylor, Miss., she was an early member of the Taylor United Methodist Church. She attended the University of Mississippi and met her husband of 63 years. As a longtime resident of Oxford, she moved her membership to the Oxford-University United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, needlework, reading biographies, and most of all, her family. She was a true optimist and always found the best in everyone and everything. There are few people who can make others feel so very special in the first few moments you meet them. She did so effortlessly.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Lynch, Jr. Survivors include her son, George Lynch, III (Melanie), of Oxford; daughter, Sharon Tidwell (Alan), of Oxford; four grandchildren, Lesley Tidwell Atkinson (Clarke), of Monroe, La., Lisa Lynch Wolfe, of Oxford, Lyn Lynch Lane (Gary), of Oxford, and Todd Chandler Lynch, of Oxford; and six great-grandchildren.
