The Oxford School District is closed until March 27 due to precautionary measures against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), but they will continue to provide meals to children during the closure.

On Monday, OSD announced its plans to provide nutritious meals to students at six locations throughout the LOU community. Beginning March 17, the meals will be provided from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday.

The locations are:

• Oxford Middle School (222 Bramlett Boulevard)
• CB Webb Townhomes (900 Molly Barr Road)
• Brittany Woods Subdivision (Highway 6)
• Wayne Johnson Apartments (2223 Delores Drive)
• Western Hills Area (Near Anchorage Road)
• Oasis Church (861 Highway 6 West)

Children do not have to enter a building for pick-up. Families should look for an Oxford School District bus in the parking lot of each of the locations. Meals will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The meals are free for all children under the age of 18 and adults are also able to purchase a meal for $2 at the locations.

Due to it being a U.S. Department of Agriculture program, Lafayette County School students and families can also get a meal at the six locations.

The USDA waiver allows OSD to provide breakfasts and lunches as the need continues during school closures. LovePacks, a local non-profit organization, is also supporting OSD during this program. More information will be available soon on how community members can support LovePacks.
