“Conducting football media days in a virtual format will provide us the opportunity to manage the event in a healthy manner as we continue to be impacted by COVID-19, and will provide flexibility for our programs to adjust their preparation for the 2020 football season according to the preseason calendar that is expected to be expanded due to the cancellation of the spring football season,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. “We look forward to returning to our traditional media days format in 2021.”

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin and Mississippi State coach Mike Leach were set to make their SEC media days debut as head coaches in the conference next month. Kiffin was scheduled to give his outlook on the Rebels’ 2020 season on July 14, while Leach was scheduled to take the podium on July 15.

The virtual format will still include Sankey’s annual “State of the SEC” address, as well as media sessions with all 14 coaches and select student-athletes from each school. Ole Miss has not yet announced with three players will represent the team along with Kiffin.

The dates and times for the SEC Virtual Media Days have not been announced yet at this time.
