Fontel Dyess “Fonz” Harvey

Fontel Dyess “Fonz” Harvey, 84, died Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at her home in Oxford. The graveside service was held Thursday, July 2, 2020, at 4 p.m. at Eastover Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Charles Lipe officiating.  

Born in Hickory, Miss., to the late Tressie Stewart and John Collins Dyess, Mrs. Harvey was the widow of Mr. Charles H. Giles and Mr. James G. Harvey. She was beloved caregiver to many throughout her career and enjoyed traveling and sightseeing all over the United States. She cherished her family and will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Dyess.  She is survived by two sons, Thomas “Tommy” Giles, and his wife, Lori, of Oxford and Joel Giles, and his wife, Dawn, of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren, Thomas “Collins” Giles, Jr., and his wife, Courtney, Joel “Austin” Giles, and Haleigh Giles; and one great-grandchild, Rylee Giles.
