Altie Saunders Patterson

Altie Saunders Patterson, 99, died Monday, July 6, 2020, at her home in Oxford. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Eastover Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Rester officiating.
Born in Starkville, Miss., to the late Wilburn Russell and Altie Reynolds Saunders, Mrs. Patterson was the widow of Mr. Robert Lee Patterson, Jr. She was a longtime and faithful member of Oxford-University United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Double Circle Sunday School Class and was the former chairperson for the flower committee. Mrs. Patterson was a former member of the Cosmopolitan Club, was a member and past president of the Pilot Club, and was a member and past-president of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO). She was a talented artist, particularly skilled in painting, and enjoyed playing bridge.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Grosie Heath Holland; a brother, Wilburn Saunders; and a grandson, John Russell Patterson.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Lee Patterson, III (Bette), of Oxford and Russell Saunders Patterson (Elaine), of Oxford; two daughters, Carol Patterson McGonagill (Cary), of Oxford and Ginger Patterson (Lee Tatum), of Oxford; a brother, David Ames Saunders (Ann), of Gulf Shores, Ala.; 11 grandchildren, Kevin Michael Patterson (Libbie), William Steven Bozeman, Jr. (Lorilei), Keith Alan Patterson (Trina), Casey Dean Bozeman (Reina), Heath Tyler Patterson, James Gregory Pruitt (Leigh Ann), Jenny McGonagill Gafford (Alan), Hunter McGonagill (Paige), Andrew Patterson Pruitt (Julia), Hardy McGonagill Ryals (Jesse), and Baker Reynolds Thurlow; and 12 great-grandchildren, Abigail Bozeman, Ethan McGonagill, Alex Patterson, Sawyer McGonagill, Michael Patterson, Max Bozeman, Liam Bozeman, Gavin Gafford, Lillian Gafford, Mallory Pruitt, Lochlyn Ryals, and Holley Pruitt.
The family wishes to extend their love and gratitude to her caregivers, Janie Smith, Dessie Burt, and Carol Burt as well as her Kindred Hospice family.
