Lane Kiffin has his new defensive line coach.

On Monday, Ole Miss announced the hiring of Randall Joyner to take over the Rebels’ defensive front. Joyner is coming from Southern Methodist University (SMU) where he served as the Mustangs’ defensive line coach.

The hire comes after Kiffin fired the Rebels former defensive line coach, Deke Adams, on Dec. 22. Adams worked on Kiffin’s staff for one season after coming from Mississippi State.

During his three seasons at SMU, Joyner was named to the 247Sports’ 30under30 list in 2018 and 2019. During the 2019 season, Joyner’s defensive line was part of an SMU defense that ranked No. 1 in the FBS for sacks per game with 3.92 and in the top three in tackles for loss with 8.5.

Prior to coaching at SMU, Joyner spent two seasons as a defensive graduate assistant at Ohio State where he worked primarily with the defensive line. Joyner served in the same capacity at Hawaii in 2015 and his coaching career started as a volunteer assistant at SMU in 2014.
