Oxford Mayor Robyn Tannehill traveled to Jackson last Wednesday afternoon with plans to meet with legislators at the Capitol and host a dinner.
However, her plans quickly changed.
According to a post on Facebook Monday, on Thursday morning the mayor wasn’t feeling well and she was unable to stand or walk. An ambulance was called and she was taken to St. Dominic’s Hospital at about 4 a.m.
She was diagnosed with a ruptured appendix and underwent emergency surgery. She spent five days in the hospital.
She expressed appreciation for the prayers, encouragement, flowers and messages from friends and community members.
“It is going to be slow going for a minute, but I’m ready to get back to work,” she stated on Facebook.
