Alma Lee Vaxter
Alma Lee Vaxter, 98, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at her residence in Oxford. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Tallahatchie Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with family hour from 6-7 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Lafayette County, she was a retired cook from the University of Mississippi and member of Christ Temple C.M.E. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy C. Vaxter.
She is survived by three sons, James Vaxter of Batesville, Kenneth Vaxter of Taylor, and Frank Vaxter of Lizella, Georgia; four daughters, Catherine Vaxter-Smith of Glenwood, Illinois, Ruby Vaxer-Redmond of Oxford, Charlotte Vaxter-Murriel of Memphis, and Clarissa Vaxter-Murriel of Collierville, Tennessee; 23 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
