She was a member of the board of directors for The Center for the Study of Southern Culture and a member of Oxford-University United Methodist Church since 1947. She loved to study and learn, especially the classics, history, and English literature. She also loved to travel the USA and overseas with her very best friend, Vasser Bishop. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend to so many. She enjoyed sharing her home, Ammadelle, with anyone who had an interest in antebellum homes. She will be missed so much, but all will cherish so many great memories created during her lifetime.
