William Douglas McQueen

William Douglas “Doug” McQueen, 70, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at his home in Oxford. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, at Jack Reed Park in Picayune. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Picayune, he graduated from Pearl River Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi. He first worked at the NASA test site as an editor. After 18 years in Mississippi Schools, he worked for Mississippi Power in Gulfport, Blake & Mouton in Austin, Texas, CSW in Dallas, Texas and AEP in Columbus, Ohio as the Leadership & Development Trainer. He retired from the University of Mississippi Department of Education as leadership training consultant.

He followed in his father’s footsteps as an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. He loved reading books and, most of all, enjoying his children and their families.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Shaw McQueen of Oxford; son, William Sean McQueen of New Orleans; daughter, Gayle McQueen-Turner, of Midlothian, Texas; sister, Jackanell McQueen-Smith, of Picayune; and five grandchildren.
