OHS swim teams place first in Cleveland Invt.

The Oxford High boys and girls swim teams placed first out of seven teams at the Cleveland High School Invitational in Cleveland on Saturday.

The Chargers had 15 first place finishes between the two teams.

Oxford swept the 200-yard medley relays as well as the 200-yard freestyle relays. The Chargers also had teams finish in fourth in the women’s 200-yard medley relay and third in the men’s 200-yard medley relay.

In the 400-yard freestyle relays the Lady Chargers claimed first and second while the Chargers earned the top spot.

In the boys competition Oxford Jacob Nichols placed first in both the 100 and 200-yard freestyle races. Isaac Manly won first in the 50-yard freestyle while Jeffrey Wang claimed the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle. Graham Norris won first in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Cole Moore finished second behind Nichols in the 200-yard freestyle while Harrison Tann finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medley. Norris and Wang finished fourth and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly, respectively. Thomas Hoskins earned third place in the 100-yard backstroke.

On the girls side the Lady Chargers claimed five individual gold medals. Mary Victoria Sullivan claim first in the 200-yard individual medley and Elizabeth Field won the 50-yard freestyle. Kate Byars won the 100-yard freestyle while Grace Dyer finished first in the 100-yard freestyle. Lucy Chiniche won the 500-yard freestyle.

Catherine Field finished second in the 200-yard freestyle while Elizabeth Field also earned second in the 100-yard butterfly. Sullivan earned third place in the 100-yard backstroke and Chiniche earned third in the 100-yard breastroke.

Both teams finished the regular season at 29-2 and will compete in the North Half meet at Delta State University on Oct. 17.
