Boyd Elvin Groves

KOSCIUSKO — Boyd Elvin Groves, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at the Mississippi State Veterans Nursing Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will be held Friday, t 11 a.m. in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in North Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. until service time. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Sioux City, Iowa, he retired from the University of Mississippi where he worked as a security guard. He attended Pine Flat United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion. He worked for Mike McGregor and assisted him with work that he did for Elvis. He had his pilot’s license and loved airplanes and car racing. He enjoyed traveling and served our country in the United States Marine Corps obtaining the rank of sergeant.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Robbie Perkins Groves.

He is survived by a daughter, Carrie Groves of Kosciusko; a son, Danny Groves of Kosciusko; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

In honor of Mr. Groves’ service to his country the flag of the United States Marine Corps will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
