Mark Douglas Buchanan, 56, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at the Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville. A memorial service will be held at Grace Bible Church on Heritage Drive at 11 a.m. on Friday. After there will be a reception at the Buchanans’ house at 595 Old Taylor Road toward Taylor (look for the yellow mailbox).
Buchanan was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, but lived the last 20 years in Oxford and was a member at Grace Bible Church. He was in the navy for 14 years and retired as an E6 to settle down with his wife Lyndy and have nine children, whereupon he pursued a variety of careers, ending with property management at Winters Construction. He enjoyed target practice and making his own bullets and constructing furniture by hand.
He is preceded in death by his father William David Buchanan.
He is survived by his wife Lyndy Buchanan, and his children Chanyfehr, Chase, Kelan, Rowan, Faith, Kyler, Kaley, Briel, and Talis, and his mother Mary Lewis, his sister Connie Buchanan, his brothers David Buchanan and Chuck Buchanan.
