John Eddie Walls Sr., 85, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Pine Grove East M.B. Church with burial in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held Friday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Homes and again Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Hodges Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Yalobusha County, he was a retired linesman for the City of Water Valley Sewage and Water Department.

He is survived by his wife, Hattie Walls of Water Valley; son, Melvin Walls of Water Valley; three daughters, Katie Carr and Brenda J. Walls, both of Water Valley, and Hattie Caldwell of Memphis, Tennessee; sister, Grace Harris of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; brother, Grafton Walls of Chicago, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
