VICKSBURG — Betty Joyce Bridges, 64, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at Merit Health Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. Funeral services were held Saturday at Mount Calvary M.B. Church with the Rev. Mincer Minor officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home of Vicksburg was in charge of arrangements.

A native of Oxford, she was a retired social worker from Jackson Hinds Comprehensive Health Center. A graduate of Central High School and Jackson State University, she was a member of Mount Calvary M.B. Church where she served on the Mother Board and Sister-to-Sister Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents and three sisters, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thad Bridges Sr.

She is survived by a daughter, Candice Robinson of Oxford; two sons, Thad Bridges Jr. of Byram and Nicholas Bridges of Vicksburg; six sisters, Vanessa Jackson of Bay Shore, New York, Ester Grace Mathis of Tupelo, Elizabeth Gipson, Stephanie Webb, Phyliss Fox and Joyce Mathis, all of Oxford; three brothers, Clinton Mathis of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Harvey Mathis of Oxford and Charles Mathis of Chicago, Illinois; and seven grandchildren.
