The students at Della Davidson Elementary School have pooled their creative talents to benefit the Parent Teacher Organization with today’s first “Deck the Halls for Della” fundraiser.
Admission is free and will be held at the Powerhouse located on South 14th Street from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. There will be food, art, photos with Santa and more.
“We would like to invite the Oxford community to join us for this family-friendly event,” Della Davidson PTO President Mary Moreton said.
Part of the fundraiser will feature a silent auction for canvases that were designed with the help of Sarah Kathryn Dossett Bridgers.
Moreton said she is excited about the public’s reaction to the art.
Each canvas represents one classroom’s scenes of Oxford. The canvases have been displayed around town at various shops on the Square.
“They will be blown away that the work was done by third- and fourth-graders,” Moreton said.
Additionally, the event will feature the pictures with Santa at the Oxford PhotoBomb photo booth, which gives participants the chance to engage in classic holiday activities all while raising funds for the cause.
YoknapaTaco food truck will provide food for the event.
Funds raised for the PTO in the past have gone toward $40,000 worth of playground equipment as well as smaller causes like student appreciation weeks at the school.
“The Della PTO organization is very excited about this year’s fundraiser,” Moreton said.
