Jacqueline Spurgeon Goodwin Parks

WATER VALLEY — Jacqueline Spurgeon Goodwin Parks, 94, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2015, at the Yalobusha County Nursing Home. As per her wishes, she has donated her body to medical science at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Dancy, she was an avid reader of biographies, loved gardening and cooking and often spoke of the great times she and her four sisters had dancing to “Big Band” music. Her lifelong career was selling shoes in various stores from Holly Springs to Jackson to Hattiesburg until returning to Water Valley after her retirement at age 70.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenny Goodwin; brother, George “Bud” Spurgeon; and two sisters, Drusilla “Droopy” Holmes and Mary “Mama Dick” French.
She is survived by her son, Sam Goodwin of Water Valley; daughter, Lou Parks White of Biloxi; two sisters, Betty “Lucy” Allen of Long Beach and Joann “Anna” Beale of Sarasota, Florida; brother, Homer Lee “Speedy” Spurgeon of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
