Colleen O’Mara Dalton

OXFORD — Colleen O’Mara Dalton, 67, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, in Oxford. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Manning Center at the University of Mississippi with the Rev. John Powell officiating. A private burial will take place in Oxford Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 p.m. until service time in the Team Meeting Room of the Manning Center. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in McComb, she graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in education. While at the University of Southern Mississippi, she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta social fraternity. She was “Miss Southern,” captain of the Dixie Darlings, member of the homecoming court and voted class beauty.  She always had a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes. Although she lived most of her life in Mississippi, she also lived in Memphis, where she greeted children each day on the morning television show “Romper Room.” She retired as a legal assistant from Pittman, Germany, Roberts & Welsh in Jackson.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kay O’Mara.

She is survived by her husband, Sam E. “Bo” Dalton of Oxford; two sons, Marcus McDonald of Nashville, Tennessee and Mitchell McDonald of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and a granddaughter.
