OXFORD — James Randall Deaton, 47, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at his home near Oxford. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Memorial Garden Park, 9036 Oktoc Road, Starkville, with Bro. Truett Allen officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
Born in New Orleans, he was originally from Starkville and had lived in Oxford for two years after moving from Collierville, Tennessee. He had been a diesel mechanic for 23 years and was the self-employed owner of Mr. Appliance of Oxford and Tupelo. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He attended Bluff Springs Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Reid Deaton.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Lewis Deaton of Oxford; three sons, Cody Deaton, Luke Deaton and Kyle Deaton, all of Collierville, Tennessee; Shannon’s children, Brooke Whitten, Brett Whitten and Brady Whitten, all of Oxford and two uncles.
