Signees leave a legacy

The buzz around Oxford was electric Wednesday as National Signing Day for college football recruits finally arrived. Ole Miss secured a top five class for 2016 by signing some of the nation’s best talent with many stars by their names.
It was like deja vu for many Ole Miss fans who remember the class of 2013. That class was ranked eighth nationally that year and it was obvious the talent that class possessed.
Laquon Treadwell, Laremy Tunsil, and Robert Nkemdiche have all declared for the NFL draft and were members of that 2013 class.
The class of 2016 contains high-powered recruits Shea Patterson, Greg Little, Benito Jones, A. J. Brown, Oxford’s own D. K. Metcalf and Lafayette High School’s Eli Johnson.
Eight of Ole Miss’s signees are already enrolled in school showing the commitment of many of the new recruits that Ole Miss has signed. Ole Miss has five players returning on defense and five on offense so some of these new recruits will be counted on to contribute immediately.
Let’s hope that the class of 2016 football signees for Ole Miss will leave the same legacy that the class of 2013 did. Hugh Freeze and his talented coaching staff have finally branded the Ole Miss name.
