NEW ORLEANS — With inclement weather on the horizon, the No. 18 ranked Ole Miss women’s tennis team and Tulane elected to begin their match with singles, and the Rebels wasted no time securing a 4-0 win Monday at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center.

The Rebels are off to the best start (7-0) in program history with their third consecutive shutout.

Ole Miss won all six first sets, including several tight ones, and they maintained momentum cruising to the finish line at one, five, six and four. Sophomore Arianne Hartono downed Ipek Birol 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 to give the Rebels their first point.

Junior Zalina Khairudinova followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Meredith Maltby at No. 5 singles and senior Marija Milutinovic put the Rebels ahead 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 against Sofia Kurtz.

Freshman Tea Jandric handed the Rebels the victory finishing off Jacqui Katz 6-4, 6-3 on court four. The remaining matches were suspended with the Rebels leading in both.

The Rebels have now won two straight against Tulane. The Rebels are now a combined 15-1 at the top three spots in the lineup. Milutinovic won her eighth match of the year and needs just two to join six of her teammates in the 10-win club.
