Saving costs on energy is for everyone to consider

The Mississippi Department of Transportation recently developed a comprehensive Energy Management Program that will enable cost savings at each of its facilities.
The program will create a road map for energy efficiency statewide. Even though MDOT has buildings across Mississippi at various stages of age, size and function, the program will have a targeted and specific approach for every building.
Each MDOT District and the Jackson headquarters are responsible for implementing the program independently, addressing areas specific to facilities within each district. These strategies range from installing programmable thermostats to control heating and cooling, to installing programmable motion-sensitive lighting, to installing window tint at MDOT facilities.
Personnel also will play a key role in ensuring the energy savings come to fruition.
We encourage local government entities and individuals in Lafayette County to use their example as a reminder to look at what can be done to conserve energy and save money here. Even simply turning off a light when not in the room or turning a computer off when you will not be using it for days can pay off.
