Northwest students shine in competition

Students in Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Career-Technical programs traveled to Jackson March 1 and 2 to participate in the 2016 SkillsUSA Mississippi State Competition.

Among those participating were Sean McChesney of Etta for job demonstration and welding; and Andy Hood of Water Valley, for welding fabrication.

“We are so happy to congratulate the students who participated…,” said Robin Douglas, assistant dean of Career, Technical and Workforce Education. “Not only did they place in seven of the 11 events they registered for, they represented our college with complete professionalism throughout the event. The other advisers and I could not have asked for a better group of students to characterize the high quality of excellence that we require.”
