Martha Lee Lyles Wilson

JACKSON – Martha Lee Lyles Wilson, 94, formerly of Oxford, died Feb. 20, 2016, in Jackson. Funeral services were held Feb. 23, 2016, at Briarwood United Methodist Church with burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oxford.
A native of Tula, she graduated from University High School and the University of Mississippi, where she was a proud member of Phi Mu sorority and the University Chorus and named a “favorite” by the student body. She worked in Memphis for American Airlines until she married her childhood sweetheart and the couple moved to Brookhaven where she taught school and her husband worked in the fields of oil and law. The Wilsons settled in Jackson in 1956. She has an abiding concern for the welfare of others and enjoyed working with Goodwill Industries, the Salvation Army and several others.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Raymond Wilson.
She is survived by three daughters, Ann Hamblett Holifield, Virginia Lee Mounger and Amy Lyles Granberry; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
