Ella Armstrong, Cecile Roberts and Ella Rose Scott, students at Lafayette Middle School, have been selected for the 2016 Middle School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.
They will perform at Carnegie Hall in June with the Honors Junior Choir.
Participation in one of the three Honors Ensembles is limited to the highest-rated middle school performers from across North America and select schools internationally.
They auditioned this fall for the Honors Performance Series and were accepted after a review by the Honors Selection Board. They will join other performers from the United States and Canada.
“Being selected to the Honors Performance Series is something each Junior Finalist should be extremely proud of accomplishing,” said Nancy Richardson, the program’s director. “We process thousands of nominations annually, selecting only the most talented performers. Working with these conductors and performing at Carnegie Hall is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that these student musicians never forget.”
The students are members of the Lafayette Middle School Choir, led by director Hannah Gadd. All three are members of the LHS Concert Choir and LMS Girl’s Sextet. They have performed with LMS ensembles since they were in the sixth grade, contributing time and talents to multiple district and state contest All-Superior ratings.
They also have been selected by their peers as Musician of the Month this year during November and February.
Junior Finalists will come together for five days in June 2016 in New York City to have the opportunity to learn from conductor Sally K. Albrecht, work with other Junior Finalists, and get a taste of New York City. The June 25 performance is open to the public.
