Brady Bramlett started it, and Ole Miss’ bullpen finished it.
Bramlett worked six shutout innings to lead the Rebels to a 4-0 win Friday in the opening game of a weekend series against Alabama at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Saturday’s game was not completed by press time.
Bramlett scattered three hits and struck out six to improve to 6-2, running his streak of consecutive scoreless innings to 13. Will Stokes and Wyatt Short combined to pitch the last three frames with Short retiring the Crimson Tide (20-14, 6-7 Southeastern Conference) in order in the eighth and ninth to pick up his sixth save.
Ole Miss (26-8, 7-6) had just five hits but took advantage of its opportunities. The Rebels plated three runs in the top of the ninth to extend their lead with Henri Lartigue, Holt Perdzock and Errol Robinson each driving in a run in the inning.
Ole Miss broke a scoreless tie in the third when Ryan Olenek, who led off the frame with a single, came around to score on an error.
The teams will wrap up the series today with a 1 p.m. first pitch. Alabama will send junior right-hander Nick Eicholtz to the mound while Ole Miss’ starter has yet to be announced.
