OXFORD — James “Larry” Kitchens, 73, died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at his home in Oxford. Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Shepherd officiating. Visitation was held Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home, which was in charge of arrangements.
A lifelong resident of Lafayette County, he was a veteran of the United States Air Force, spending 14 months in Korea. He worked as a self-employed brick mason for 43 years. He was also the owner of the One Stop County Line station for six years. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Kitchens of Oxford; sons, James Kitchens Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas, Rodney Kitchens of Lufkin, Texas, and Steven Kitchens of Oxford; daughters, Stella Hill of Pope and Patricia Sorrells of Sardis; sister, Bonnie Cannon of West Palm Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
