Oxford school teachers earn highest mark

Three Oxford School District teachers earned the highest mark of professional accomplishment by achieving National Board Certification this school year.

• Kristen Power, a fourth-grade math and science teacher at Della Davidson Elementary School. She has worked in the education field since 2009 and as an Oxford School District teacher since 2010.

• Jackie Leopard, a third-grade language arts and social studies teacher at Della Davidson Elementary School. She has worked in the education field since 2007 and as an Oxford School District teacher since 2007.

• Brittney Tolbert, a special education teacher at Oxford Elementary School. She has worked in the education field since 2010 and as an Oxford School District teacher since 2010.

To date, the Oxford School District has 50 National Board Certified Teachers in the district. While licensure systems set the basic requirements to teach in each state, completion of National Board Certification signifies that teachers have voluntarily gone further.
