KALAMAZOO, Michigan — Betty Ann Hellums Rowland, 72, died Monday, June 27, 2016, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 6, at 3 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oxford, with the Rev. Ann Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Wednesday, July 6, from 1 p.m. until service time.
Born in Batesville, Betty married her husband, Clayton Rowland, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on April 30, 1972. She taught pharmacy as well as becoming only one of the few pharmaceutical librarians in the country. Betty enjoyed genealogy, reading westerns and mysteries, quilting, needlepoint and painting. She was a member of the Kalamazoo Chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as the Daughters of the Confederacy.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Richard Rowland of Schenectady, New York and her grandson, Maxim Leonidas Rowland of Portsmouth, Virginia.
Survivors include her son, James Winfred Rowland and his wife, Jennifer Lynn Rowland of Portage, Michigan; her other grandson, Xavier Alexander Rowland of Portage, Michigan; her sister Winifred Ruth Moseley of Hattiesburg.
