Lafayette FFA goes to State and brings home honors

The State FFA Convention took place at Mississippi State University June 6-9. This event was a time where FFA members from all across the state came together to celebrate FFA and its members’ achievements.
During the convention members competed in multiple competitions, including opening and closing, prepared public speaking, job interview, veterinary science, agriculture issues, etc.
The Lafayette FFA Chapter attended the convention and competed in chapter display, National Creed Speaking, Opening and Closing, National Chapter and Job Interview.
Twelve students from Lafayette attended the State FFA convention including the former chapter officers- Edith Kent, Raegan Ramage, Megan St. Peters, Riley Arbuckle, and Koty Martin; along with the current officers — Walker Westbrook, Treyton Odum, Gracie Tidwell, Brooklynn Savage, Destiny Wilson, Abby Johnson and Jon Victor Arbuckle.
Edith Kent placed first in the Job Interview contest, and first place in Landscape Proficiency Area. Kent will move on to the National FFA Convention to compete against students from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
Lafayette also placed first in the Chapter Display competition. This contest is designed for chapters to create a display to educate others about Mississippi agriculture.
Lafayette chose to showcase the history of agriculture in our great state. The display will also compete at the National FFA convention in October.
Lafayette FFA will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianaopolis, in October.
