Ole Miss golfer Thornberry qualifies for U.S. Amateur
Ole Miss sophomore Braden Thornberry recently qualified for the U.S. Amateur at the Tupelo Country Club at Belden.
Thornberry finished in a tie for first, posting a score of 10-under par 135 through three rounds. The sophomore was one of two in a field of 67 to qualify for the U.S. Amateur held at the Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan Aug. 15-21.
Thornberry will compete in a field of 312 amateur golfers in a match-style tournament. The 2015 champion is Bryson DeChambeau, an SMU grad.
