“Tales of Calhoun County,” a book of five short stories written by Terry Allen, will be available in Water Valley on Saturday.
The former WVHS head football coach, now living in Ripley, has based these stories on actual events from the county in which he was born and reared. They paint a picture of rural Southern life as he experienced it during the 1960’s.
“Remembering those simpler times and the good people who lived them brings a smile to my heart,” Allen said of his book.
Copies will be available at a book signing event on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the bank building at the corner of Main and Wood streets, directly across from Turnage Drug Store in Water Valley. Allen will read excerpts from his new book at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
