SOUTHAVEN — Oren Hall Crowson, Sr., 97, died Friday, July 29, 2016, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. until service time at Waller Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Denmark, Mississippi, to the late Sarah Adeline Hall and Richard Poston Crowson, Mr. Crowson served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1941-1943. A longtime member of First Baptist Church, he retired as the Building and Grounds Supervisor at North Mississippi Regional Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Denton Crowson; two sisters, Beulah Mae Winter and Cornelia Winter and a brother, Ira Lee Crowson.
Survivors include his son, Oren “Butch” Crowson, Jr. and his wife, Joan of Hernando; two grandchildren, Richard Crowson of Sioux City, Iowa and Meredith Blankenship of Hernando, and three great-grandchildren.
