Schools starting back up

The lazy days of summer will soon be over for area children with schools starting back up over the next several days.
In Lafayette County, students K-12 will be donning book bags and heading to class on Friday for the first day of the 2016-2017 school year.
Oxford students 1-12 will start on Monday with a staggered opening for pre-K and kindergarten students throughout the early part of the week.
Drivers heading to work in the mornings should leave a few minutes early as school buses will be back on the road and speed limits reduced to 15 mph around area schools. Parent drop-off lines at some schools could reach into the road, backing up traffic, particularly during the first few days of school.
Drivers are asked to use caution on neighborhood streets during the entire school year where children may be walking to and from school in some areas.
