Eugenia Reagan Bramlett McLaurin

OXFORD — Eugenia Reagan Bramlett McLaurin, 94, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at her home in Oxford. The funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Rester officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5- 7 p.m. in West Hall at the funeral home.

Born in Oxford, to the late Eugene Sherman and Janie Marie Reagan Bramlett, Mrs. McLaurin was the owner of the Kangaroo’s Pouch prior to retirement. She was a member of Oxford-University United Methodist Church. She was a devoted mother, taking care of her seven sons. She had a love for music, which she fulfilled through teaching piano and being involved in honorary musical societies. Mrs. McLaurin was a realtor and also completed two years of medical school, graduating with a medical certificate from the University of Mississippi in 1944 where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. John Purves McLaurin, Jr. of Oxford; seven sons, John Purves McLaurin, III and his wife Carol of Burke, Virginia; Eugene Bramlett McLaurin and his wife, Brenda of Savannah, Georgia; Robert Carter McLaurin of Oxford; James Reagan McLaurin and his wife, Net of Thailand; Walter Robyn McLaurin and his wife, Barbara of Oxford; Timothy Steidley McLaurin of Gainesville, Florida and David Brian McLaurin and his fiance Teresa of Taylor; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
