OXFORD — James H. Pegues, 68, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at the Mississippi VA Home in Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Tallahatchie Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building with burial in Philadelphia M.B. Church cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home with family hour from 5-7 p.m. at Philadelphia M.B. Church in Oxford. Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Lafayette County, he was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Pegues of Oxford; sons William Flemons and Carlos Pegues, both of Oxford, and Anthony Pegues of Abbeville; step-son Kevin Fisher of Oxford; sisters Edna P. Dickens, Alice Bell, Murleen Pegues and Willie Mae Pegues, all of Oxford; brothers Robert Pegues, Charlie Pegues and Willie Pegues, all of Oxford, and Murry Pegues of Abbeville; and five grandchildren.
