Celebrating the open weekend

We eagerly anticipate football season through the summer, but any true Oxford resident knows that open football weekend is the true gift.
With four consecutive home games beginning in early September Ole Miss’ open date this October weekend is welcomed with open arms.
Oxford residents can do what others do on fall weekends, like working in the yard, running errands to hardware stores, cleaning out closets, riding bicycles, or enjoying a favorite restaurant downtown.
Sure, there are some good games to watch on television including two that will impact Ole Miss’ future in the SEC’s Western Division involving Tennessee vs. Texas A&M and Alabama vs. Arkansas. But it’s different watching when the pressure is on the others.
So this will be a true moment to relax and enjoy a fabulous fall weekend. Temperatures are forecast for near-perfect conditions Saturday and Sunday, with lows dipping Saturday night into the upper 40s.
Yes, you may even be able to see your breath on an early walk Sunday morning.
We can’t ask for better than that.
Enjoy Ole Miss’ open date and a quiet Oxford on a perfect fall weekend. We don’t get many of these, so let’s make it count.
