An Oxford man was arrested Friday for allegedly breaking into vehicles in the area of Circle K on University Avenue.

The suspect allegedly stole items from two separate vehicles, which was witnessed by people nearby. The suspect was chased down and held until officers could arrive by the citizens.

The suspect was identified as Jasper Joiner, 52, of Oxford.

Joiner was in possession of the stolen merchandise when officers arrived. He was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked on a $5,000 bond.
