Jean Halford, 87, passed away in her home on Saturday, Oct. 8 2016, after a long illness. She was a native and life-long resident of Memphis Tennessee. Jean and her loving husband, Jack, had recently moved to Oxford, to be closer to family. She was a generous, loving and devoted wife and mother. Jean had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She enjoyed reading and looking for and collecting antiques. Jean loved her 13 grandchildren. She has been active with her church in years past, and had been involved in various charitable and service organizations over the years. Jean enjoyed travel, particularly to the Smoky Mountains; friends, good food, and especially her family. Jean had recently been under the care of Gentiva Hospice and her physician Shaun Helmhout, MD. She loved her nurses and caregivers, and the whole family appreciates their loving care.
Jean was preceded in death by her father Wendell Holmes Coleman, mother Margaret Horsley Coleman and brother Wendell Holmes Coleman Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Jack, sister Billie Coleman Murray, sons Richard Coleman Halford (Melinda), William Daniel Halford (Julia), Jeffrey Hunt Halford (Sarah) and daughter Lisa Halford Thompson (Greg). She leaves 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is loved and missed by all of us.

There will be a visitation at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 13, followed by the service at 2:30 p.m. The service will be officiated by Jean’s nephew-in-law, Rob Thorpe, with songs/music by daughter-in-law, Melinda Halford.
