Dovard L. Russell, 85, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at Golden Living Center in Batesville. The funeral service will be Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at 1  p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Lipe officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held beginning at 11a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born to the late Lawrence and Minnie Moore Russell, Mr. Russell was a retired salesman for ADC. He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. He served our country during the Korean War in the United States Army achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Louise Watson Russell; sisters, Bonnie Depriest and Maxine Rhodes and brothers, Adrian Russell, Aubrey Russell and Roger Russell.

Survivors include his daughters, Bonita Gemeinhardt and her husband, Kirk of Sardis, and Diana Redding of Enid; sons, the Rev. Charles Leonard Russell and his wife, Joyce of Monticello, Arkansas and Ronald Glen Russell of Batesville; sisters, Jimmie Waller of Oxford, Peggy Martin of Southaven, Faye Woodard of Batesville and Sue Vaughn of Oxford; brothers, “Buddy” Russell of Abbeville, and Calvin Russell of Oxford; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

In honor of Mr. Russell’s service to our country the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
