A Clarksdale couple were arrested Sunday for stealing items from Walmart by hiding them in garbage cans.

According to the Oxford Police Department, Walmart’s Loss Prevention claim that Tamara Stewart, 41, and Demitrius Conner, 42, both of Clarksdale, were seen walking around inside Walmart and taking multiple items off the shelf and putting them inside garbage cans throughout the store.

Loss Prevention contacted the Oxford Police Department and officers were waiting outside the store when the two exited with the stolen items.

They were taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where they were booked on a $2,500 bond each.
