Billy Allen Hamric

Billy “Bill” Allen Hamric, age 87, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital- North Mississippi in Oxford. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Oxford-University United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eddie Rester and the Rev Warren Black officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. The visitation will be held in the activity center at the church prior to the service from 9:30 until 11 a.m.

Born to the late William Council and Eunice Elkins Hamric, First Class Petty Officer Hamric served in the United States Navy. Bill retired as a Certified Engineering Technician from General Electric Medical Systems. He was a member of the Oxford-University United Methodist Church, Wesley Explorers Sunday School Class, Memphis Artist Craftsman Association, and Oxford Artist Guild. Bill was very active in the Boy Scouts, even serving as an Assistant Scout Master.  The former owner of Wooden Accents in Oxford, he was an avid woodworker, sculptor and furniture maker.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren Abby Hamric and David Boyce.

Mr. Hamric is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann Hamric of Oxford; a daughter, Priscilla Hamric and her husband, Edwin Koen, of Oxford; three sons, Zachary Allen Hamric and his wife, Greta, of Sarasota, Florida, Steve Anthony Hamric and his wife, Kim, of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Kenneth David Hamric of Collierville, Tennessee; a sister, Katie Mulhollan of Bridge City, Texas; five grandchildren, Nicole Commander of White House, Tennessee, Bryan Hamric of Waialua, Hawaii, Brandon Hamric, Collierville, Tennessee, Jacqueline Gordon of Madison, Wisconsin, and Audrey Smith of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; and six great-grandchildren.

In honor of Mr. Hamric’s service to our country the flag of the United States Navy will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
